Sitting outside on the patio at happy hour at our accommodation in New York, a friendly "hello" from another patron reaches me, this is rare in a busy city of 8 million. 'How are you?" is my typically kiwi reply. "Are you Australian" he says. I laugh and tell him, no, I'm from New Zealand. "So am I," he says, "I'm from Dunedin!," "I come from Timaru" I say laughing!!!

We end up sitting together, Bill, his wife Ann, Sam and I and we share stories of our travels so far. After half an hour conversation moves to why we are here in New York and we mention that we published a book and that it has won an international award. Ann asks what the book is called and when I tell her, the
Super Power Baby Project, she gets emotional and says, "oh my goodness, you're Evie's parents!!!!!"

Ann works in the NICU in Dunedin hospital and amazingly remembers when Evie was born, even where she was placed in the NICU during this time. Ann is responsible for all the neonatal equipment in the hospital and so knew the gear Evie needed. She has read the book and loves it.

Ann told us a story of how recently on the ward a little boy was being cared for but the doctors were having trouble diagnosing his particular syndrome. One nurse recalled seeing a little girl in the book with similar features. So the doctors looked into this syndrome and were able to diagnose this little boy with help from the
Super Power Baby Project. The family of the little boy have a new sense of hope for their son and said that it isn't so scary after reading about little Mela in the book and seeing photos of her looking so beautiful. It has helped them to see life with their son as full of potential.
