I arrived at Ayda’s home to be met by a beautiful, fun and vibrant family. My very first meeting could not have been more perfect. I felt as if I was among old friends.
I first spied Ayda, an adorable tiny frog posed shape on the floor playing a game on the ipad. She turned around to meet me and I was greeted by an electric grin, a most delightful face and it hit me that here I was, in Wellington in the living room of an amazing family who were about to tell me part of their incredible story. I was humbled, excited and rather emotional.
Ayda was just so beautiful. I couldn’t wait to hear all about her and get to know her better. Ayda’s parents said some amazing things about their daughter and their own words are wonderful.
Ayda's worth is infinite to our family. It isn't limited by “normal” expectations of life; school, work and what job you do, marriage and having kids, that's how society measures importance and worth. We are not restricted by these goals and are lead by Ayda and her own unique dreams and what having her in our life means for our own dreams.
We have changed for the better. We are kinder, more patient, more accepting and forgiving. We stress less about the small things. We call this change Ayda’s ripple of Influence. She is part of the community and people love her and can’t help but be moved and changed by her. People become better for knowing her.
They shared a little about the first moments after Ayda was born and how that was a tough time, but their own way of coping made me smile. Their attitude is so positive and celebrates Ayda for who she is- their precious daughter.
I was very fortunate to be able to share a delicious tea party with Ayda and experience her incredibly infectious giggle.
Her ripple of influence had spread to me too. And now to you.
Ayda's Super Powers: Flexible, determined and an amazing problem solver. Musical with great rhythm and dances differently to all types of music. An infectious giggle, high emotional intelligence - she can read people. Ayda brings out the best qualities in people; kindness, patience, forgiveness and acceptance.
